Terminal extension receives building permission

Following a planning phase completed in just three years, the granting of building permission for the expansion of Terminal 1 is the latest milestone on the road to the new non-Schengen terminal at Munich airport.
The final design features a transparent, 95,000m² gate over 360m long, a dynamic structure that rises above the existing airport building from a recessed base to float over the surrounding runway. Conceived so that it can be easily adapted to changing requirements even after completion, the general planning for this compact and flexible new building will be carried out by the joint venture of SSF Ingenieure, Schüßler-Plan, sop architekten and JSK Pszczulny & Rutz Architekci.
