sop architekten plan new town hall to be Net-Zero-Energy
Last Wednesday, sop architekten, together with the city of Mönchengladbach, Germany, presented their design for the new town hall called “Rathaus der Zukunft mg+” to the city. The focus lies on the energy concept of the building, which will feature photovoltaic panels, geothermal energy, numerous green spaces on and in the building and natural ventilation. The design emerged as the winner of a two-stage international competition in 2019. The new town hall with a new glass façade will become a meeting place between city employees and the citizens, representing a transparent and future-oriented administration.
