Building permit granted for the New Administrative Buildings Rheydt
Just four months after the building application was submitted by the municipal enterprise “Neue Verwaltungsgebäude Rheydt” and sop architekten, the city’s building authority has now granted the building permit for the new city hall in Mönchengladbach.
After the first interior dismantling works have already begun, unusable building shells will be demolished from October onwards, so that the structural works for the project can start as planned in 2026.
Around the historic Town Hall and the former Royal District Command, an ecologically and economically sustainable, climate-neutral administrative building for up to 850 employees will be created, which will in future present itself to citizens in an open, transparent and accessible manner.
The new building, constructed as a timber hybrid structure, will feature a two-storey public hall and will highlight the listed buildings inside and out as defining address elements.
