New hotel for Dusseldorf
A new 3-star hotel designed by sop architects is currently taking shape on Dusseldorf’s Moskauer Straße. The 455-room Holiday Inn Express hotel developed by UBM Development Deutschland (formerly Münchner Grund) and Munich Hotel Projekt, a subsidiary of Lambert Immobilien GmbH, is due for completion in 2020.
The curved structure follows the sweep of the street on which it stands, creating an open space that softens the transition to the adjoining Grand Central quarter, which is currently taking shape. The rounded form of the building is accentuated by the narrow offset rectangles of its matt-polished facade, which interconnect like the links of a watchstrap.
