Construction work on the new HQ has begun
The construction work on Messe Düsseldorf’s new headquarters is already clearly visible from a distance: shipping containers, construction machinery and a hive of activity mark the start of one of the most significant construction projects at the Stockum exhibition grounds.
Whilst the front tower of the old administration building is being carefully dismantled, the complete refurbishment of the rear tower – which is being converted into a modern office building to house the new trade fair headquarters – has already begun.
Together with the new building, which will serve as the landmark of the site and is being constructed using a system façade that can be easily dismantled whilst minimising material consumption, the two square structures – arranged slightly offset and parallel to one another – will in future form a harmoniously coordinated ensemble featuring open and collaborative office spaces.
The wide, gently tapering entrance to the new building marks the welcoming gateway to the new headquarters, which opens out generously onto the adjacent Nordpark.
