A new residential district in Düsseltal
With its new Zooviertel Carrée residential development in Dusseldorf’s Düsseltal district, sop architekten have created an ensemble of 16 fully and 38 partially accessible living units and eight detached townhouses that retell the architectural history of the site.
To create a new identity for the area, the site of the former German Foundry Federation (BDG) building, and maintain a reference to its previous use, the architects decided to retain part of the early 1950s main building and integrate it into the new development. The Zooviertel Carrée project, commissioned by Viantis AG, emerged as the winner of a design competition.
