At the foot of the Theodor-Heuss Bridge, the northern entrance to Düsseldorf’s downtown, sop architekten is developing a new landmark around and above Telekom’s existing technical facility (local switching office) on behalf of PAMERA and E.T. MYER.
The building structure, divided into four sections, forms part of the mega-frame, which serves as a defining element in the facades. The staggered building heights are aligned with the existing development along the street. To enliven the immediate surroundings, public spaces such as a bistro and a lending library with a reading café are planned for the ground floor and first floor. The enhancement of the property is further reinforced in the sustainable design through the greening of the existing facade, the forecourt, and the protected rear area, as well as through extensively landscaped rooftop terraces.
