With a height of twelve floors the “Scala” office tower will be the tallest building in the new I/D Cologne area on a former railyard in the city of Cologne. It will form a landmark for the quarter. Its distinctive shape, which seems to break the cubature in two, results in green terraces and loggias, distributed around the building in tiers, giving it its memorable name “Scala”.
With its metallic, Corten-like façade and planted terraces, the Scala Tower stands out from surrounding buildings without losing its connection to the quarter's industrial past. The green concept continues inside the building with prominently placed green walls on the ground and first floors. LEED Gold certification is planned for the Scala Tower, which is designed using BIM.
