These two orthogonal buildings, offset at angles to each other, quite naturally provide space for two other striking free-standing buildings – to the south-west the historical Kreuzeskirche, a formative feature of the neighbourhood, and to the north-east a monolithic building that houses a hotel. Both buildings participate in a confident dialogue, their corner areas opening up the quarter and creating new connections in the urban space by way of the resulting diagonal thoroughfares.
In keeping with adjoining existing local use structures, the buildings were planned to accommodate residential, office and retail spaces. Space for a community centre was also provided within the church complex to further integrate the church into the quarter.
