The competition entry for the new headquarters building of the German tour operator “alltours” on Düsseldorf's Rhine promenade pays tribute to the neighboring architectural icons, the Behrens-Building and the Mannesmann-Tower. It is well integrated into its urban setting without losing its unique architectural features.
The building, which is divided into three sections, is defined by a full-size opening with a large open staircase towards the banks of the Rhine river. This inviting, almost sculptural gesture creates a transparent, open office building grouped around an open forum. It consciously draws parallels to the alltours headquarters in the city of Duisburg. The building also contains apartments adjacent to the neighboring residential buildings. These apartments as well the offices enjoy impressive views of the promenade along the embankment.
