GPM Development, sop architekten and KRAFT.RAUM win commission

The site of a former school in the city of Hilden in Western Germany will be turned into family-friendly residential neighborhood according to a design proposal by “GPM Development”, sop architects and “KRAFT.RAUM” landscape architects. This decision was the result of an open investor selection process.
The design calls for two rectangular and four square buildings, situated in a park-like green area. The 108 apartments all have flexible, handicapped-accessible floor plans, 40% are subsidized as social housing or rent controlled. More than half of the units have family-friendly floor plans. Staggered balconies, loggias and windows create exciting projections and recesses in the facades made of brick and coated with cement. The new buildings fit naturally into their surroundings. Different alleys and paths create a wide range of opportunities for community spaces.
