First prize in investor selection
On the site of the old fire station in Horneburg, a sustainable, social and residential quarter with commercial space for medical practices, coworking and childcare is to be built. sop architekten, together with Hofschröer Projektbau, were successfully selected to develop the site following the municipality's investor selection process.
In addition to urban integration, the design was chosen for its thoughtful and comprehensive concept, which includes solutions for renewable energy generation, mobility and sustainability. To preserve the site’s history, the original clinker bricks of the old fire station will be removed and reused in the basement of the new building. A total of around 1,200m² of commercial space and 2,500m² of residential space will be complemented by green spaces to the rear.
